Amazon Web Services lays off hundreds of tech, sales, and marketing staff

Amazon Web Services has announced the layoff of several hundred staffs in sales, marketing and tech roles, the latest in a series of job cuts by its parent

The impacted staff also include a few hundred the AWS’ global services division and the physical stores technology team.

In past months, Amazon has laid off hundreds of staff in divisions, including its Prime Video service, healthcare business and Alexa voice assistant unit.

Amazon had laid off more than 27,000 in 2022 and 2023, after the tech industry hired too many people during the pandemic.

The Information reports that the job cuts are likely part of a broad reorganization under sales chief Matt Garman.
