APC Internal Crisis Arises Over Audit Report Shielding

Tensions are escalating within the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to claims that APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, is concealing the party’s audit report from the National Working Committee.

This controversy surfaces as the APC is preparing for its National Executive Committee meeting.

The dispute comes a week after the party’s National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore announced the APC’s long-awaited National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings, scheduled for July 10 and 11, respectively.

Multiple sources from the party’s secretariat disclosed that a confrontation might be imminent between Adamu and some National Working Committee members if the audit report is not revealed before the NEC meeting.

Speaking to Punch, an anonymous committee member expressed concerns about Adamu’s actions, noting that despite media scrutiny and conflict with the North-West Vice Chairman, Salihu Lukman, Adamu continues to exert individual control over the party’s secretariat.

The source said, “Many people were laughing when Lukman accused him of running the party like a garrison commander. Will it interest you to know that the audit report has not been submitted to the NWC members (for scrutiny)? The question is, how do you then present such a report to the NEC meeting?

“I am sure even Adamu knows there will problem if he doesn’t give access to the report before he presents it.”

The source speaking on why Lukman appears to be the only one challenging the national chairman, the APC chieftain described the situation as unfortunate.

The source said, “As you can see, even Lukman has slowed down. Will he kill himself? He has done more than enough by highlighting all the issues plaguing the party.”
