Google parent Alphabet Trims Its Workforce, Lays Off 12,000 Employees

Google Parent Alphabet has announced a 6% cut in its global workforce.

In an open letter published by Google,

CEO Sundar Pichai, via an open letter, announced the layoffs, basing it on the premise that the company was in a “different economic reality”.

So far, four out of the five so-called “big tech” firms have now announced significant layoffs in the past few months. Only Apple is yet to announce layoffs.

Alphabet’s announcement will eliminate roughly 12,000 roles at the company worldwide.
