Religious leaders concerned about slow implementation of State Capture report recommendations

The Interfaith Forum of South Africa, says it is concerned about government’s slow implementation of the recommendations of the State Capture report.

The forum which consists of religious leaders, met at the Nelson Mandela Gateway in Cape Town.

The religious leaders are planning to hold a national conference next month to find solutions to the country’s challenges.

They say the conference will focus on issues including poverty, inequality, corruption and crime.

The forum’s Chairperson Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana has called on government to start to implement the recommendations of the Zondo Commission’s report .

Mpumlwana says, ” We also express our disappointment at the slow pace of bringing to book those who were fingered by the report of the judicial commission of inquiry into allegations of State Capture otherwise known as the Zondo commission. We call on the government to expedite without further delay the delivery of the specific findings and recommendations of the commission and that applies both to the executive and to parliament.”
